The Goal: Leveling Up College Readiness
Three years ago, the leadership team at Mukwonago Area School District set out to change how they approached ACT preparation. They wanted a solution that was high-quality, scalable, and—most importantly—accessible to every single student. To make that happen, the district committed to making heavy use of Methodize, the digital learning platform by Method Learning.
The Approach: Making Practice a Habit
Mukwonago didn't just buy a software license and leave it on a shelf. Administrators and teachers embraced the platform, embedding it directly into the school culture.
Over a three-year period, the Class of 2026 engaged deeply with the curriculum. Instead of passive skimming, students focused on active learning, tackling over 280,000 practice questions on Methodize. This high-volume, targeted practice allowed students to master content, analyze their mistakes, and build serious test-day confidence.
The Proof: Big Gains for the Class of 2026
The district's multi-year dedication to the platform paid off with a mix of standout individual achievements, broad district-wide improvement, and performance that significantly outpaced state averages.
Growth Across the Whole Class
While the benchmark data shows how Mukwonago compares to the rest of the state, the platform's impact on individual student growth proved just as significant. Rather than just helping a select few, Methodize was a key component to helping move the needle for the vast majority of test-takers:
74.2% of students improved their score by 2 or more points from their initial Pre-ACT baselines.
Standing Out at the Top
The focus on high-level strategy also helped Mukwonago's top performers hit elite benchmarks:
2 Perfect Scores: Two students achieved a perfect 36 on the ACT. To put that in perspective, they represent a significant portion of the only 93 perfect scores recorded in the entire state of Wisconsin.
Hitting the 30+ Mark: An impressive 8.1% of the class scored a 30 or higher, putting them in an elite bracket for college admissions and merit scholarships.
Outperforming the State Benchmarks
By focusing heavily on helping students hit official ACT college readiness benchmarks, Mukwonago saw its scores clear the Wisconsin state averages by massive margins across every single subject:
Subject | Mukwonago Students Meeting Benchmark | Wisconsin State Average |
English | 72% | 51% |
Reading | 52% | 37% |
Science | 51% | 32% |
Math | 50% | 31% |
Praise from the District
“Methodize is a major piece that has allowed us to grow. In the two years, since we started leaning into Methodize, we have had the greatest gains in our testing history.”
