Taryn Adkins

Taryn Adkins is a licensed school counselor and college counselor who brings over 15 years of experience from both sides of the admissions desk. She has worked in a variety of K–12 settings, including both public and private schools, supporting students and families as they navigate the college search and application process.
Taryn has particular expertise in working with students with learning differences, including dyslexia, ADHD, and related learning challenges. She regularly helps families understand the transition from high school accommodations to college disability services and works closely with students to identify institutions that provide the academic support and resources needed for long-term success.
Prior to her work in secondary school counseling, Taryn served as an admissions counselor at Virginia Commonwealth University and also worked in international admissions. This experience provides her with valuable insight into how applications are reviewed and how students can best present their strengths during the admissions process.
Taryn earned her B.A. from the College of William & Mary and her M.Ed. from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is an active member PCACAC and remains actively engaged in professional development within the college admissions community.
Her counseling philosophy centers on helping each student find the right college fit, academically, personally, and socially, while guiding families through the process with clarity, organization, and care.
