Tim Gallen has 30 years of experience in education.  He spent five years working in admissions at his alma mater, the University of Scranton, where he simultaneously obtained his master's degree in education.   From there, after a brief stint as a math teacher, he has spent 24 years as Director of College Counseling and Testing Coordinator at two small, private schools in the Philadelphia area.  In addition to his counseling experience, Tim taught math and theology, coached middle school basketball, coordinated community service opportunities, and was technical director for theatre while at Devon Prep.  At Solebury School, he created a series of college guidance classes and was a standing member of their Judiciary Committee, Endowed Arts Scholarship Committee, Curriculum Design Committee, and Senior Project Committee. 
Tim

enjoys working with students and helping them maximize their high school experience with an eye toward college.  The college search process is an individual process of discovery through discernment, and Tim is passionate about guiding, supporting and advocating for students in the college search, application and selection process.  Tim likes to challenge students to approach college with an open mind.  There is not one college that is right for everyone, and there isn't only one college that is right for any given student.  College should challenge students, support them, and encourage them to grow and transform into the best versions of themselves: model students and citizens alike.  

Tim's philosophy is to provide highly individualized advice and support. recognizing that each student and their college journey is unique, and so should be the guidance that he provides.  He encourages students to take an appropriately challenging and well-rounded curriculum in class and develop as leaders in their own passions outside of it.  While at his various schools, he has made it a point to truly get to know his students by cheering at their games, attending their concerts, volunteering alongside of them and coordinating activities.  

Tim has a great deal of experience with the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling (PACAC) and National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).  Through these organizations, he has  made countless connections with college admissions officers and secondary school counselors across the country and internationally.  He has served as PACAC's Treasurer, Admissions Practices chair, and President, as well as on the Finance Committee and Admission Practices committee for NACAC.  

Tim enjoys singing and theatre, visiting national parks, cheering on the Philadelphia sports teams, and spending time with his wife and 16-year-old daughter.  He is excited to be going through the college process as a dad for the first time.
