Kelley Kaminsky brings more than two decades of experience in education, journalism, and college counseling. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, she began her career as a newspaper reporter and magazine editor before transitioning into education, where she discovered her passion for helping students express themselves through writing. This foundation in storytelling shapes every aspect of her work as a college counselor and essay coach. As a certified English teacher and experienced college admissions advisor, Kelley has guided thousands of students in developing personal statements and supplemental essays that reveal their authentic voice and character. She helps students move beyond surface-level achievements to uncover the deeper motivations, experiences, and reflections that make their stories stand out in a competitive admissions process. Her students represent a wide range of academic and career interests, including business, engineering, the sciences, humanities, and the arts. Kelley’s strength lies in helping each applicant connect their academic goals with their individual experiences to create a cohesive and memorable application. Kelley also works closely with high-achieving students to design meaningful passion projects that combine service, leadership, and research. These projects not only strengthen college and scholarship applications but also help students explore their purpose and make an impact in their communities. She is particularly knowledgeable about the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship and has extensive experience guiding students through competitive scholarship applications at selective colleges and universities. Having visited many college campuses throughout Florida and across the country, Kelley helps families understand how to make the most of college visits and how to use those experiences to refine and personalize the student’s college list. Her approach is grounded in clear communication, careful organization, and a deep understanding of both the academic and emotional aspects of the college admissions journey. Kelley’s advising philosophy blends the precision of an editor, the insight of an educator, and the compassion of a mentor. She believes every student has a story worth telling and works tirelessly to help them gain admission to top colleges and develop their narratives to reflect their authentic voice. Kelly is an active member of SACAC and ASCA and believes in the importance of continuing education to stay abreast of current trends and changes.
