Betsy Stangel is the Director of College Advising at Method Learning, where she leads a national team of experienced college advisors and works directly with families navigating the college admissions process. Betsy helps families develop thoughtful college strategies that reflect each student’s strengths, goals, and interests. She has extensive experience guiding students across a wide range of colleges and universities, from large public institutions to highly selective private universities, helping students build balanced college lists and present authentic, compelling applications.

She also helps families understand the financial side of the college process so that no family reaches the end of the admissions journey wondering how they will pay for college. Betsy guides families in evaluating financial fit while building college lists and provides strategic support throughout the planning process.

Betsy has presented at national conferences on topics related to the college admissions process and regularly hosts educational webinars to help families stay informed about the rapidly changing college admissions landscape. She also leads ongoing professional development for Method Learning’s advising team so families benefit from advisors who remain current on admissions trends and best practices.

Before joining Method Learning, Betsy developed a comprehensive college advising program at a private grades 8 to 12 school in Louisiana for twelve years and later founded her own college consulting practice. She is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the Independent Educational Consultants Association, and the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling. Betsy earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans.

Betsy enjoys planning Disney trips, gardening, and do it yourself home projects with her family and two dogs in Northeast Ohio.
