Andrew “Andy” Snyder, Ed.D., brings more than 30 years of experience in education, counseling, and college admissions advising. As a College Advisor with Method Learning, he works closely with students and families to guide them through the college admissions process with clarity, strategy, and confidence. Andy helps students build thoughtful and balanced college lists, develop authentic applications and essays, and make informed decisions about academic fit, campus culture, and financial affordability.
Over the course of his career, Andy has guided more than 1,100 students and families through the college search and application journey. His advising philosophy centers on helping students find colleges where they will truly thrive academically, socially, and personally rather than simply chasing prestige. Families often value his calm, practical approach and his ability to break a complex process into clear, manageable steps that keep students focused and confident.
Andy brings deep expertise across every stage of the college planning process. He works with students on long-term academic and extracurricular planning, thoughtful development of college lists, application strategy, essay coaching, interview preparation, and final decision-making. His approach emphasizes helping students clarify their interests, communicate their experiences authentically, and present a coherent story across their applications.
A particular strength of Andy’s work is helping students develop strong application narratives and essays. He guides students through brainstorming and drafting, so their voice remains authentic while the message is clear and compelling. He also helps students translate everyday experiences, such as jobs, leadership roles, and community involvement, into meaningful contributions that admissions officers can easily understand.
Andy has visited more than 200 college campuses and maintains strong relationships with admissions professionals across the country. He stays closely connected to the evolving college admissions landscape to ensure that the students he advises benefit from the most current insight and guidance.
Andy lives outside of Boston with his wife and their fluffy cat, Tony. They have three adult children who successfully navigated their own college admissions journeys, giving him a personal understanding of the process from both the advisor’s and the parents’ perspective.
